Light-hearted humour is always welcome in this age of serious social media and whimsical politics, so here we have a humorous approach to reporting on human interest stories through the use of a series of “Pass Notes” formatted articles on the Guardian, a newspaper so famous for its many spelling and grammar mistakes that it is often referred to as “The Grauniad”. In this particular article we can see exactly what is so awful and so great about the Internet in one fell swoop: petfluencers on social media. The fact that people taking pictures of their pets can earn them massive stacks of dough is in itself one of the wonders of modern civilisation. While cynics might argue that this is exactly the kind of mindless trash that contributes absolutely nothing positive to society, and actually quite possibly even lowers the IQs of the general populace who subscribe to and dedicate huge portions of their lives to such tripe, it cannot be denied that many people get a real kick out of looking at pictures of wildlife, whether they be the majestic wildlife of the savannah, rainforest or desert, or somebody’s dog with its head stuck in a bucket. At least the author of this article and this series is able to see the amusing (and dark) side to the news! 參考資料: What’s small, cute and exploited for financial gain on the internet? Mr Pokee
